Welcome to the Yankton Area Ice Association Figure Skating program and the website.  Registration  is open for the 2019-20 season.  Please check out the links on the left for any information regarding the Figure Skating program or please don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions.

Important Dates to Remember for 2019-20 season

Figure Skating Season Timeline for 2018-2019

Calendar pickup and equipment checkout - September 24th & October 1st
 - 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Fall Rummage Sale fundraiser – September 28th & 29th )Setup September 26th & 27th)

Rink Setup - October 1st - 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Pre-Season Ice - October 3rd (or as soon as ice comes in) through October 12th from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. 

Pre-Season Ice - October 13th from 7:30 - 10:00 am

Try Learn-to-Skate for free - October 14th from 3:00 - 4:00 pm

Pre-Season Ice - October 15th - 17th from 4:00 – 5:00 pm

Figure Skating Parent Meeting - October 18th - 5:30 pm

1st day of Group Lessons October 18th 4:00 - 5:30 - Please check the schedule 

Learn-to-Skate Classes start - October 29th - See Weekly Schedule

Initial Test/Assessment Day – October 27th for skaters. Note: skaters who registered for LTS but tested up to Pre-Alpha must pay full price of Pre-Alpha class for the season. Skaters who registered for Alpha who test up to Beta must pay full price of Beta for the season.

Competition Informational meeting for parents – November 1st - 5:30 p.m.

Sign-up Deadline for Holiday Program – November 10th

Holiday Program planning meeting – November 15th, 5:30 p.m.

There will be no group lessons the week of Thanksgiving (November 19th – 24th). Practice ice will be available for skaters in Pre-Alpha and above during regular scheduled lesson times except on Thanksgiving Day.

November 22nd – No practice ice or group lessons – Happy Thanksgiving

Holiday program dress rehearsal – Wednesday, November 28th - 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Holiday program – November 30th starting at 6:30 p.m.

Costume Measurements – December 6th & 8th, before & after group lessons.

Year-End Performance Planning Meeting – December 6th – 5:30 p.m. – All parents requested to attend.

Test/Assessment Day & Final Performance Costume Measurements – December 8th for all skaters (this test will determine which group the skaters will be in for the year-end performance). Note: skaters who registered for LTS but tested up to Pre-Alpha must pay 1/2 price of Pre-Alpha class for the 2nd ½ of the season. Skaters who registered for Alpha who test up to Beta must pay ½ price of Beta for the 2nd ½ of the season.

Costume planning and purchasing – December 13th at 5:30 p.m.

1st session ends/End of Regular classes - December 13th

Practice ice and private lesson ice available December 15th – January 2nd during figure skating lesson times.

No practice ice December 22nd - December 25th

Brookings Competition – January 5th & 6th

2nd session starts – January 8th

Costume measurements for New Intro to Figure Skating and Pre-Alpha 2nd session – January 8th, 2019 – 5:30 p.m.

Costume fittings for all groups January 8th, 10th, 12th & 15th immediately after regular scheduled classes.

Luverne Competition –January 18th - 20th

Performance Pictures – Week of January 28th

Sign-up Deadline for Special Groups and Opening Number of final performance – January 19th

Performance Practices Start – January 30 – Special Group and Opening number practices on Wednesday evenings.

Frosty Blades Competition, Blaine, MN – February 1st - 3rd

No lessons or practice ice due to Yankton Squirt Tournament – February 2nd & 3rd

Performance Program completed (Need all pictures and program layout completed) – 2nd week in February

Yankton Winter Miracle Competition –  Cancelled this season!

No lessons or practice ice due to PeeWee State Tournament – February 15th, 16th & 17th.

Year End Performance Dress Rehearsal – Thursday, February 28th @ 6:30 p.m.

Year End Performance – March 2nd at 7:00 p.m. & March 3rd at 2:00 p.m.

2nd session ends/regular classes & test week – March 5th & 7th – this test will determine which level you will register for next season.

Sioux Falls Competition – March 22nd & 23rd

Year-end banquet/Equipment Check in – Tentative March 11th – Family Skating Party
