Greetings All:
In regards to the upcoming YAIA season here is what we know today but, all could change quickly as COVID-19 is ever-changing:
- We have had a team of Medical professionals and an Attorney working on a Return to the Rink safely COVID-19 plan over the last couple of months. We are still finalizing some details, with more to come in September after SDAHA's Fall meeting. This plan does address locker room usage, ingress & egress of skaters, sanitizing, social distancing, masks, spectators, league play, competitions, etc.
-We anticipate starting our season in the same timelines as we have in the past in October, the exact date is flexible due to when the ice is ready.
-We plan to conduct practices and other scheduled events with safety restrictions in place.
-Equipment checkout will happen by appointment, watch for more information to come on this.
-The Calendars & Dibs pickup is also being worked on.
-Registration is open online.
-There will be NO Open Skate this season. The City of Yankton has decided to no longer participate in the program. YAIA will revisit this program next year, so we can continue to offer this to our communities in the future.
-The annual Miracle Banquet has been canceled. We have some alternate fundraising ideas in mind.
Although this season will be different much like everything else in 2020, I have no doubt that all of us will be able to work together to make this another enjoyable and successful season for all!!
Thank you,
Sarah Thoms | YAIA President
