BROOKINGS — The Yankton Area Ice Association’s competitive figure skating team claimed top honors at the Prairie Polar Blast Competition, held recently in Brookings. Yankton had a score of 258, 36 points better than host Brookings.

Six members of the team — Maddie B., Katie B., Mariah D., Elise H., Kirsten M.and Olivia T. — scored a victory in the team competition.

Ten of the 11 competitors also took home at least one individual first place apiece. First place finishes included Maddie M. (Freestyle 1, Interp), Katie B.(Character Spotlight), Mariah D.(Solo Comp, Freestyle 1), Kasey E. (Jump and Spin, Solo Comp, Freestyle Bronze, Light Entertainment), Elise H.(Solo Comp, Delta), Maddie M. (Jump and Spin, Freestyle 4), Kirsten M.(Jump and Spin, Footwork, Solo Comp, Freestyle 2), Mikayla M. (Solo Comp, Alpha), Jacquelyn P. (Jump and Spin, Freestyle 3, Stroking, Dramatic, Interp, Rhythmic Ribbon) and Samantha W.(Solo Comp, Beta, Stroking, Light Entertainment).
