Figure Skating Coaches Needed

Yankton Area Ice Association and the Yankton Figure Skaters are seeking part-time figure skating instructors for 2015-16 season. YAIA supports 50-70 figure skaters per season in beginning through competitive skating levels. Instructors must be willing to become ISI certified. Reimbursement for certification fees is available. Responsibilities include coaching regular skating classes Tuesday/Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings, providing private lessons to skaters, coordinating routines for end-of-season ice show, judging and assisting with the local competition, and attending regional competitions with skaters. Yankton Figure Skating Coaches

Brittney Richters

My name is Brittney Richters and this will be my fourth year coaching in Yankton. I graduated in August 2013 from the University of South Dakota with a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I am currently a second year graduate student at USD working on completing my doctorate in the Audiology program. Figure skating has been a part of my life for fifteen years and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I figure skated as a member of the Blue Mound Figure Skating Club in my hometown of Luverne, MN for eleven years and have been involved with figure skating ever since. I am a Freestyle 4 level skater. Growing up I competed for four years in high school and have been attending/coaching/judging skating competitions ever since. In high school I was a student coach for four years; I coached mainly lower level groups including beginners up through Freestyle 1. Additionally, in high school I was a private coach for two years in which I coached skaters from beginners to Freestyle 1. My goal as a coach is to improve a skaters basics skills and portraying the skater’s unique strengths. Since high school I have expanded my private coaching experience as a private coach here for the Yankton figure skating club. I am currently a certified professional coach and a gold certified judge through ISI. I have a great respect for this organization and the growth that I have seen over the years. I am excited to start another season and continue to teach young skaters to develop a love and passion for figure skating. I provide private lessons for skaters who are interested in private lessons and/or competing at competitions. Morgan Privett

My name is Morgan Privett and this will be my second year coaching in Yankton. I graduated in 2013 from Yankton High School. I am currently a second year student at USD working on a business major. I have been skating for about 5-6 years in the Yankton program. I am a Freestyle 5 level skater. I competed for three years. In high school I was a student coach my senior year, helping with all levels. Last year I was a coach for the second semester of the Yankton Program. My favorite levels to coach are freestyle 1 and above. As a coach, I want to encourage my skaters to put forth there best efforts, while having fun and enjoying the wonderful sport. This year I plan to become a private coach for my first year. I am overjoyed to start a season with many opportunities to offer all the skaters. I provide private lessons for skaters who are interested in private lessons and/or competing at competitions. Katie Bratberg

My name is Katie Bratberg. I'm 16 years old and a sophomore at Yankton High School. This is my eighth year as a skater with the Yankton Figure Skating Club. This will be my third year competing. I have been a junior coach for a little over two years. This will be my first year coaching. I'm currently a certified professional coach. My goal as a coach is to help skaters reach their highest potential while having fun. I provide lessons for skaters who are interested in private lessons and/or competing at competitions.
